December 2018: Bogle Vineyards Merlot, California, 2016                                                                                                20181130_191247

  • Bouquet: Raisin, Wood, Earth
  • Flavor Profile: Blackberry, Heavy Spice Notes

September 2018: Madria Sangria

I love this bottle of Sangria especially when I don’t make the Sangria myself.  You can add ice and a splash of lime, some juice, or just enjoy as is.  You can also use this bottle of Sangria in place of the red wine that I have used in the Sangria recipes that I have shared.

Salu’d, XOXO Smiling Danny

August 2018: Joel Gott Zinfandel, California, 2014

  • Bouquet: Brandy, Caramel, Spice, Warm Syrup and Alcohol.
  • Taste: Oak, Raisin, Cinnamon, Minimum Tannins, Black Pepper on tip of tongue.
  • Pairing: Hearty Red Meat; This is a Full-Bodied Wine.
  • Smiley Rating (1-5): bigstock-happy-smiley-25475741bigstock-happy-smiley-25475741bigstock-happy-smiley-25475741

July 2018: Cowtown Winery, Sweet Red Table Wine,              Fort Worth, Texas

  • Bouquet: Bourbon, Cinnamon, and Subtle Raisin
  • Taste: Caramel, Children’s Cough Syrup, Brown Sugared Apples, Port
  • This wine paired nicely with the Apricot Glazed Chicken that I made alongside Greenbeans and Fingerling Potatoes. (check out this month’s blog post for the recipe)
  • Another wine that I truly enjoyed from this winery is called Painted Lady. The wine smells like strawberries and tastes like a Strawberry Fanta Soda. Just thinking of it brings joy to my heart.

June 2018: Dr. Loosen Riesling, 2016, Mosel Germany

  • Aroma: Caramel, Citrus, Pear
  • Taste: Peach, Green Apple, Mild sweetness, Crisp, Light effervescence
  • This is the best Riesling I ever had. I’m not a fan of Rieslings but now I am a believer.
  • Pairing: Clam Chowder, Crab Cakes

February 2018: Texas White 2015, McPherson Cellars

September 2017: 19 Crimes, 2015

I love wines that I can drink on their own; meaning, I don’t need to pair it with a meal in order to really enjoy it. I can just have a nice glass while winding down for bed.

Favorite Wine: Seven Deadly Zins, 2007
